Measurement
and Distance Sensors
All of the measurement products work on the triangulation
principle.
When using this technology, a light spot is projected on the target object. For this purpose the FT 50 RLA has a laser light source with a
beam-forming optic
By means of a
second optic contained in the sensor, the
light spot is reproduced from the object to a position-sensitive component
which is also contained in the FT 50 RLA. This
second optic is called receiver optic, it
is placed at an angle at the side of the beam forming optic.
The front edge of the sensor constitutes the reference
level of the arrangement. If the distance
between object and reference level changes, the
position of the image on the position- sensitive component
changes proportionally. This position is
then processed into an output signal which is widely independent
of the object's surface.
